Exhibition design of Urban Hours 1, 2 and 3
Program curated by Shubho O Saha founder of Back Art Foundation and exhibition curated by Emran Sohel, 2019- Outcome and documentation of yearly site-specific art project call “Urban hour” at Edge Gallery, organized by Back Art Foundation.
Idea of the exhibition:
I think curation is a continuous possibility of creation with a group of artists. So, for me, this show is a playing process with the group of artist’s creations, without trespass of those artist’s ideas/thoughts. ‘URBAN HOUR’ is the site-specific art project, the last three times which is organized by back art. Where two editions were on old architecture, which is the most significant buildings of the glorious time of Dhaka and the third one was on nature (into the countryside). I was one of the participants of the first two editions, and as much as I understand this project starts from the thoughts of growing unplanned urbanization. So here I try to generalize the thing by representing some structural material that was used to build this gallery building. Here I displayed all the artist’s work documentation into the one roof with materialistic structure and obviously gives importance by the contextual structure. Where I tried to represent by the basic thought of Urban hour, with much more relation of exploration by the contextual digging and visual dialogue. Where I believe it makes another layer with that documentation and exists art objects of participant artist’s creation. Consciously I tried to focus on the last edition because of its site-specificity for making more contextualize of this project, where we displayed all of that artist’s art documentation into another urban structure.
