Zero waste food art

Response of a numbness
Usually, as visual art practitioners before this pandemic period, we all tried to work represent personal social and cultural facts. Where industrialization kept us in their black hand, and there was a big part to kept distance between nature and humans. Made us concentrate on the materialistic world. Now, this historical pandemic has already made us facing a completely unknown situation since decades the conventional observances that we maintain are messed up. It seems the God of the Earth has been jerking of the vessel off time- where the human being is needed to rethink about the civilization that extended its footsteps long back, the economy, social norms, politics, the logic and necessity of capitalism, in where we became helpless and to save our lives, we have no choice wearing a ghost suit instead of usual clothing. We are afraid about uncertainty and painful death; the whole world has become one fighting this unknown invisible enemy that have made us all locked down at home to save oneself and others.
As we are social creatures and we usually live next to each other inside a society, we need to support each other to be strong and safe. Eventually, we need to stand by initiate social, cultural and economical activities. Keeping in mind a social distancing policy as needed this time we have to stay and reach distribute food for free of cost to the other people, therefore we all can fight against this pandemic together in coming days. The pandemic has immobilized the whole world that questioning the lives of us from the countries such as Bangladesh. We are paranoid that the following days are going to be more horrible.
In this amid civid-19 Where my thought process became change like others and feeling the bigger necessity of organic life leading process. As I am interested to do work on public space, especially with the community people. Where In my practices I tried to focus on the intimate relation between the context and sensual/physical body. In this lockdown I started a community-based project by involving with the process of growing food, the intention was to passed this historical pandemic surreal moment collectively by healing and involving with earth and nature. And also, to get those crops equally. As part of a crowded area of Dhaka city, in South khillgaon, where I live, with the help of my neighbors, I planned to make roof top vegetable garden. Which is very much successful by the involve of neighbors and 80 years old grandmother along with my parent. All of this process makes my art effective, where I tried to contextualize with the urban context where day by day, we all became individual, though lots of family lives in every single architecture they don’t know each other. The surface of this initiative, become a material to express my conscious and subconscious thoughts amid covid-19. I think this process of making art build a relation between also healing my mental situation.
‘Response of a numb’ is a project, which is the demand of time. Here I am mentioning seven main important components. Which I believe it will bring me forward as a new strategy of making art and involving with community as a semipublic activity.
Firstly- This is a long-term art project responding to the Global pandemic.
Secondly- As a public art practitioner I believe collective and collaborative fact has a power which can ask the question to dominator and also self-centered society.
Thirdly- It inhaled the frustration of this pandemic by involving with the process of growing own food and nature. Though it can’t fulfill the needs of daily food of each family.
Fourthly- It makes people thoughtful about the positivity of collectiveness, where we all become self-centered in this 21 century.
Fifthly- Makes us mentally hopeful in this extraordinary surreal situation amid Covid- 19.
Sixthly- My initial thinking was to distribute food for free of cost to the street people. later on I make it small into my building within 12-14 family. Which inspired to another building. All ready its started near to another two building.
Seventhly- Had an exhibition into the building (rooftop) physically and along with digital format, where I got the new audience of visual art and their interaction with it.
